The tiny, land locked country of Bhutan is building a 22.4km long headrace tunnel and an underground powerhouse as part of a US$250M, 1,020MW hydro-electric project being developed by the Tala Hydro-Electric Power Authority in partnership with the Indian government. All electricity generated from the project, which also includes a 91m high gravity dam, will be sold to India.
