The government of Japan will provide a loan of up to US$34M during the current Japanese fiscal year to meet a part of the funding requirements for the second phase of the ongoing Kohat tunnel construction project. Japanese Ambassador Sadaaki Numata conveyed this to Pakistan’s Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz in Islamabad on 23 April. The Kohat tunnel constitutes an integral part of the Indus Highway which is one of the vital trunk roads in Pakistan.
