An “International Symposium on Design, Construction and Operation of Long Tunnels – To Celebrate the Breakthrough of the 12.9km Hsuehshan Tunnel” will be held from 7 to 10 November 2005 in Taipei, Taiwan. Organisers are the Chinese Taipei Tunnelling Association, Taiwan Area National Expressway Engineering Bureau and the Ministry of Transportation and Communications. The stated aims are to share and exchange the knowledge and experience gained from long tunnel construction including planning, design, construction and emergency treatment.
