The pair began excavating the 5.75m ID, twin-bore tunnels in September 2013  to create the western underground section of the line. Once their bores had been completed in 2016, they were left in position midtown at Yonge Street to allow the rest of the project to catch up. This became possible when the Eglinton Station excavation had reached tunnel level. Two other TBMs have been boring the eastern section of the line.

When completed in 2022, the Can$5.3bn Eglinton Crosstown LRT project will be the largest transit expansion in Toronto’s history. The 19km line will have 10kms underground, a total of 25 stations and will link East and West Toronto. With an expected average speed of 28km/hour, it is expected to make getting across town 60% faster than before.
