Volume of papers presented at the biennial conference of the America Underground Construction Association (AUA), chaired by John Reilly and co-ordinated by Gary Brierley. The papers provide a good reference background to the presentations and discussions of the conference which are often characterised by pragmatic and open comments which are difficult to convey in a volume such as this. The conference comprised three tracks on 1. Management, contractual practices and risk; 2. Methods to renew the North American underground construction industry; and 3. Overview of the latest and most significant development in underground construction technology. Seventy separate presentations are published in over 670 pages together with closing comments (where time allowed) and references. This book will be of particular value to those wishing to update themselves on tunnelling work in North America and on current thinking in a rapidly changing industry.
