The integration in the UK of Johnston Construction Ltd and Mowlem Engineering Water has been formulated to provide the water industry with a complete ‘one stop shop’ service. This follows last year’s acquisition by John Mowlem & Company plc of Johnston Construction.

The arrangement brings together the capabilities and experience of Johnston in civil engineering design and construction with Mowlem Engineering’s expertise in Process and Mechanical Electrical Instrumentation Control & Automation (MEICA) works for water, sewage and effluent treatment plants. Paul Sivey, MD of Johnston Construction, says: "The fact that we are operating under a single management team gives us a clear advantage in managing projects involving a multitude of smaller sites with integrated process, MEICA and civils needs, which we believe will be the main feature of the Asset Management Plan 3 programme for the water industry.

"The merger will further strengthen the services we can offer," he added.

The new company retains the Johnston Construction identity and operates from its head office in Bracknell, UK. Its experience includes tunnelling and canal schemes; sewage and water treatment works; water distribution; and sewerage networks. It includes small site refurbishment to major turnkey projects.
