Following a two-month period of delay, work has begun on the $304m Yuncan Hydro project in Peru. A JV of Skanska/Cosapi/Chizaki hopes to start TBM boring of the first 6.7km long 4.1m diameter tunnel in July. Construction of the scheme includes 26km of tunnelling at a cost of $117m. A 9.5km, 3.5m diameter tunnel will also be bored, with the rest of the tunnel advancing via drill+blast.
