Roland Koch took over as chairman of the German services and construction contractor Bilfinger Berger executive board on 1 July, succeeding Herbert Bodner who has retired after 12 years as head of the Company.
Koch has been on the executive board since 1 March, and was premier of the state of Hesse from 1999-2010. He has specialised in business and labour law.
As a civil engineer, Bodner was instrumental in Bilfinger Berger’s realignment from a construction company to a multi-service group. The name is well known in the tunnelling industry but has recently become much more involved in energy and has divested itself of some construction activities and, according to the company, has freed itself from dependence on the cyclical demand in construction.
