Five new tunnelling codes came into force in Switzerland on 01 October, replacing the original SIA 198 – underground structures Standard, which dates from 1993. The new codes are: SIA 197 Design of tunnels – Basic principles; SIA 197/1 Design of tunnels – Railway tunnels; SIA 197/2 Design of tunnels – Road tunnels; SIA 198 Underground structures – Execution; SIA 118/198 General condition for underground structures.
