Applications are now open to start the course at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering in February.
The major is aimed at industry professionals and has been designed in consultation with industry experts to ensure students receive real-world and in-field practice as part of the learning experience.
Students will undertake projects to develop knowledge and skills to understand new technologies and enhance the design, operation, and optimisation of tunnelling and underground engineering.
“The Tunnelling and Underground Engineering programme presents an exceptional opportunity for students to attain practical insights and real-world experience in the field of tunnelling and underground engineering,” said course co-ordinator Dr Haleh Rasekh. “By incorporating industry expertise into the curriculum, students will develop the knowledge and professional skills essential to this sector."
Students will study practical skills in modern site investigations, planning, design, construction, management, TBMs, trenchless technologies, safety and sustainability aspects of tunnelling and underground engineering projects.
The course is designed for civil engineers and industry practitioners wanting to expand their knowledge in tunnelling and underground engineering and engineers interested in changing their career focus to tunnelling and underground engineering.
The major is available for several post-graduate courses.
