The final section of Taiwan’s longest rail tunnel, the 11.3km long New Kuanyin tunnel, was completed in early August in Ilan county, northern Taiwan. The US$68M tunnel is part of the north link railway which started in October 1996. The breakthrough marks the completion of the northern section of the tunnel. The southern section was successfully holed through last December.
