Contractor Byzak has started tunnelling on the $19.7m second phase of the Ayr interceptor sewer in Scotland. The 5.2m diameter Herrenknecht Mixshield TBM will construct the 1.2km long tunnel mainly through dolerite. Tunnelling is expected to be finished by February 2000.
