Approval has been given for the first railway line, the Red Line, of the Greater Tel Aviv mass transit system. The Red Line, partly in tunnel, will run between Peta-Tikva and Bat-Yam. It will be designed for LRVs with overhead power supply, but with easy future conversion to heavy metro including alignment geometry and tunnel diameter.
