The TBMs have mixed face cutterheads with an opening ratio of 35 per cent to bore Istanbul’s mixed rock and soil formations. The tunnel will be lined with concrete trapezoidal segments in a 5+key arrangement.

The Senbay Madencilik-Kolin-Kalyon joint venture will carry out the EUR 1.4bn project, which will kick off in early 2017 and finish in mid-2019.
