The 90m-long Terratec EPBM has launched from Anand Vihar, in the south of the route, and will excavate around 3km to New Ashok Nagar. The retrieval shaft is currently under construction at Khichripur near New Ashok Nagar. The tunnel has a 6.5m diameter and cross-passages every 250m.

Four TBMs will be launched from Anand Vihar station to dig the southern stretch of the twin-tunnel network. Two will drive towards New Ashok Nagar and the other two will dig the 2km tunnels towards the Sahibabad side.

The launch and retrieval shafts for the latter two are now being constructed.

The 82km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS will provide a high-speed, high-capacity commuter service. It will have 25 stations, including two depots and one stabling yard and it is due to be completed in 2025.

The project is include in phase one of a proposed wider multi-modal transit system for the Delhi region.
