The size of the seizure, which took place on 27 August, was the equivalent of a quarter of the total amount of heroin intercepted by French customs for the whole of last year.
The heroin was contained in 120 packets hidden inside a boiler that was being carried in a van that had begun its journey in the Netherlands. Its street value was estimated at more than EUR 2.6M (USD 3.4M).
