The three men were working on the under-construction tunnel – part of the Thailand-China high-speed railway project – when it suffered a partial collapse on August 24.

The men are reported to be two Chinese workers – a supervisor and an excavator operator – and a Burmese truck driver. Their bodies were found last Friday, August 30.

Local media reports say rescue efforts, which included pumping oxygen into the tunnel, were hampered by ongoing landslides.

Thai police have opened an investigation into the incident, while construction works around the tunnel have been suspended.
